Is there any collaboration between DITO, Smart, or Globe?

DITO, Smart, and Globe are providers of mobile telecommunication services. However, DITO is linked with GOMO, Smart is linked with TNT, and Globe is linked with TM Tambayan.

Moreover, DITO is owned by Udenna Corporation and China Telecommunication. On the other hand, these three companies have an agreement and have signed a contract to provide better communication and network services to their users.

Has DITO, Globe, and Smart signed any contracts?

Yes, they signed a contract to provide better coverage to its users. Both DITO and Globe signed a contract to build a submarine cable system. On February 24, 2021, Globe Telecom and DITO also signed an interconnection deal. Moreover, on February 23, 2021, DITO signed an interconnection deal with PLDT to provide better coverage to its users. 

What is the deal between DITO and Globe?

They want to build a submarine cable system to provide better data coverage and internet speed, and they want to upgrade local capacities. 

Both DITO and Smart signed a contract and made an investment deal. In this contract, they agree that they will build a submarine cable system in Southeast Asia worth $300 million. 

Moreover, through this Asia Link Cable project, they want to connect Singapore, Hong Kong, Brunei Darussalam, Hainan, China, and the Philippines with almost 6,000 kilometers of cable.

What is the deal between DITO and Smart?

DITO said that they have to make an agreement with PLDT to interconnect with PLDT Smart Communications, lnc. In this agreement, they are urged to connect the DITO and Smart subscribers. However, later, DITO comes to know that Smarts is not letting them connect properly. 

This means that when DITO customers call Smart customers, they may face an issue during a call. Essentially, DITO said that this problem causes a problem and also wastes the capacity that Smart gave them. 

Is there any issue occurring between DITO, Globe, and Smart after the agreement?

After an agreement, Globe noted that more than 1,000 fraudulent calls Globe received through DITO Network. These calls are basically from local numbers but appear to be international in origin. 

Moreover, as per the report of the Watchdog, DITO already filed a complaint against Globe and PLDT. The convenor of Thinktank Infrawatch PH sau to the owner of DITO, Dennis Uy’s telco;

“DTIO should focus on improving its own services instead of making 

excuses for its own failure in competing with the country’s leading telcos.”
